Dear Mr. Iger,

As a longtime fan and supporter of Disney and Disney Parks, I am writing to you today in hopes that you will reconsider the current plan to retheme Splash Mountain. As a loyal Disney customer, I applaud the years of your life that you have dedicated to developing the parks we all hold dear. I urge you to consider the historical importance of Splash Mountain along with the groundbreaking artists who played a role in developing the backstory. As we both know, the first male African American Academy Award winner was James Basket. This was awarded for his role as Uncle Remus, the man who told the Brer stories. This alone should secure this site as a landmark in need of preservation, not the planned destruction. Specifically, I ask that you support Splash Mountain in the following ways: Stop all planned retheming of Splash Mountain. Use the time and dedicated funds to improve upon the current Brer Rabbit theming and improve the ride’s overall mechanics. Improve the queue to include the rich and groundbreaking history of the Brer Folklore and honor the groundbreaking actors, musicians, and artists that made this ride possible. Begin a project that will retell the Brer Rabbit stories in a modern way, one that will be embraced by all. Splash Mountain is Important Based upon the Brer stories that were brought to the Americas as folklore from the African Continent, these stories were verbally handed down for countless generations. These stories told of overcoming sticky situations and rising above adversity. Ideals and morals that are timeless.  These are tales that deserved to be retold by Walt Disney and Deserve to be told again and again. Indeed, the time has come to retell these stories in a modern way, one that speaks to an America that is 75 years older and wiser. I look forward to seeing how Disney can revive Brer Rabbit for the next generation. The importance of Splash Mountain plays extends far beyond a simple ride with catchy music. I ask you to continue to support Disney Parks and American Culture by keeping Splash Mountain intact and by working to ensure that the rich history of so many people who worked so hard to break down racial barriers in our culture is not forgotten.
